RATING: Somewhere between 2 and 3 HEARTSThis was okay. Nothing too over top, but nothing special either. The addition of dragon shifters makes the overall plot of the story seem interesting, and adds just the right amount of "attention-grabbing" to the same old story that has been done over and over again. Both the main characters are easily likeable. We have Tristan, the moody, alpha male who hates humans, yet can't get enough of Melanie. And Melanie, a strong-willled, funny, and totally feisty heroine, whom I wouldn't mind making friends with. Both have such opposing personalities, and yet they seamlessly form a tolerating couple. It's going to be fun getting to know these two as the story progresses, especially since their sexual chemistry is off the charts. The attraction is instant here, but we don't get actual romance other than one very brief (totally panty melting!) kiss. Surprisingly, I didn't mind that all, if anything, it has my eagerness for the next part soaring! My only reservation is the length. I really don't understand why the full story is divided into four parts. This one has all of 5 chapters and it cuts off rather abruptly. It's very annoying, and I would have definitely preferred if Sacrificed to the Dragon was a full length novel, instead of a series of short stories.Overall, this is a perfect story to pass (at the most) 15-20 minutes with. It's quick, easy and oddly fun. I cannot wait to see how Tristan and Melanie's relationship further develops in the next three parts of their story and how Jessie Donovan expands her world of dragons. I recommend it to all those who like shifter stories, and are okay with starting a book with very...very low expectations.

Dragon Love?I really enjoyed this story, I just wish it had been longer, but I'm on my way to read the next. I am hooked on this series. What will happen to Mel now that she has arrived at the clan and met the elusive, but very imposing and handsome Tristan. What will happen to the very imposing Dragon shifter Tristan who swore not to get emotionally involved, now that he has met this feisty human. One his Dragon wants.I can't wait to start book 2 in this very compelling story.Very good start to what is going to be a very good series.

I enjoyed Ms. Donovan's world of dragon shifters, but I was hoping to learn more about the dragons. Melanie has sacrificed herself to the Stonefire Dragons. She will attempt to safely deliver a child in return for dragon blood that will heal her brother. Triston, the dragon, is not keen on humans but must comply. The story had a few surprises and clever conversation from Triston's inner dragon. I think his inner dragon was my favorite character. There is plenty of hard-headed drama and steam between Melanie and Triston. I'm curious about where the next story will take me.

Review of he series as a whole:In an alternate reality, Scotland's dragon shifter clans have been hunted to near extinction by poachers who keep them as hunting trophies. Others covet them for their blood, which has healing abilities.Due to their low numbers and birth rates, dragons need biologically compatible human women to bear their offspring. These women - known as "sacrifices" - enter into a 6 month contract and are assigned to one dragon male. In case of impregnation, the woman must stay until the child has been born. The pregnancy itself is not without its risks; quite a few wmoen die in labor.Melinda, however, is determined to offer herself up as a sacrifice, not for money, but to save her ailing brother. When she arrives at clan Stonefire, she finds that she has been assigned to Tristan, a surly dragon shifter who hates humans. But his dragon half has a mind of its own and is immediately drawn to the opinionated human woman...Sacrificed to the Dragon was fairly entertaining, though quite formulaic, and not especially groundbreaking in any way. There was sex, as one would expect in a novel like this, but it never left me hot and bothered like it did Melanie;-)A couple of things rubbed me the wrong way: One of the issues that bothered me, was how they referred to themself as "dragon men". I would think the dragons themselves would have come up with a better name for what they are, right? Then there was the (view spoiler)[ death of Caitriona; the human woman who had been abandoned by her dragon man. While she was the reasonable choice to kill off, given that she had no mate, it was also a very predictable and safe (boring) choice on the author's part. Having one of the mates who was loved, die in childbirth, would have been more interesting and realistic.(hide spoiler)]I would rate the individual books as either 2.75 or 3 star reads. For the series as a whole, I feel 3 stars is appropriate.

You know... someone needs to take away the buy with one click setting from me when it comes to free ebooks or kindle deals. Cuz ALL I saw when I decided to download this was "hot English guys who shift into dragons" and thought "OOOH!" and bought it (for 99c) THEN I read the blurb and was like oh shit. What have I done? But honestly, not too bad. I expected worst. Don't like that a story this predictable is being done in installments. Same old story, guy hates humans because of past, woman comes along. His body responds while his minds screams NO. Is irrationally bitchy to her (although, thankfully he hasn't been psycho verbally abusive like some guys in these kinda books). Blah blah, I think the worst thing about these kinda books is the man picking up every scent ever on the woman. I get it, inner beast, inner animal, inner whatever. But come on... not sexy reading at all! The whole sexy beast thing is RARELY done well. RARELY.But not a bad 15-20 min read I guess.

Melanie Hall is sacrificing herself to the dragon shifters to have a baby by Tristan MacLeod one of the dragon shifters. Her brother Oliver is dying and Dragon's blood will heal him. The Stonefire Dragon Clan has an agreement with the British Government that they will provide blood which heal all sorts of human ailment that cant be cured in the human tradition method, in exchange for human women who are willing to bare them babies. The Dragons are on the brink of extinction because they have been hunted and killed and they have low fertility ratesMelanie has been paired with Tristan who hates humans. His mother was brutally murder and tortured by Dragon Hunters. His sister Arabella was tortured but she escaped before they could kill her. The last thing he wants is to be order by there Clan leader Bram to have sex with Melanie and produce a dragon baby. Ok the story has a very good HEA but it lacks the Dragon's world building and development and character develop. The banter was coy and not funny. Why must the women being sacrificed, Not be a virgin. All the sacrifices I have ever heard of were pure virgin sacrifices. So that didn't make any sense. The story just lacked roots and depth. It just needed more storyline development. There is a lot of dirty talk or I guess you could say sexy talk. I think the author was trying to write erotica but missed the mark by a mile. Erotica is not just talking dirty but descriptive action of the sex act itself. All in All I will read the next story. But I must admit I am glad this was a freebie on Amazon.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! The cover is awesome and what attracted me to buying this….well is 40ish pages a novella or a short story. I’ve never been good at what the line is.Okay I always start with the things I think people need to know or would like to know. This is a 4 part serial, and it is NOT all out yet. It doesn’t take long to read this because it is under 50 pages. I bought this because heck it was only 99 cents, and for this price I will try a new author and series even it is a serial.Serials are not my favorite when it comes to reading; however, I loved reading this one. Considering the length of this, the author did a phenomenal job at showing me this new world and hooking me on the story. It usually takes me 2 or 3 parts of a serial before I really like the world and series.Melanie is awesome. She is smart and will do anything for her family. She also will not be pushed around by a grumpy prejudiced dragon shifter. Tristan has a past, but I’m sure you read the blurb and know this already. This is my first time reading anything by Jessie, and I’m definitely going to read more :) I have already bought part 2, and I’m going to go read it now :)I recommend this serial to those who like shifter serial, but remember it is not all out yet…only the first 2 parts are out.

To save her brother, Melanie sacrifices six months of her life to a broody alpha dragon…who hates humans in this mesmerizing dragon shifter romance. This fast paced and smooth flowing plot captivates readers with a fascinating new world of dragons. The well written scenes and details capture the imagination while the strong compelling characters grab the reader’s attention and draw them into the story.Melanie ensnares the reader right from the beginning with her love and loyalty to her brother and the fact that she has the courage to sacrifice herself to the unknown is an admirable trait. What can I say about Tristan is the ultimate sexy broody alpha dragon male and I would love to change his mind about humans, of course I can empathize with his reasons. This is a fascinating and teasing introduction to the author’s world of dragons and I must say that her interesting concept and elements certainly has me intrigued and while too short I can’t wait to find out what happens between Melanie and Tristan.

Wow - I had no expectations coming into this book, but Jessie Donovan blew me away! This novel actually had a story - and a good, believable one at that! The internal logic of the plot held up throughout. This was a very well written series. The prose was fluid, the pacing was just perfect, and the characters were well developed. In fact, the characters were so full-fledged, Jessie Anderson doesn't even stint on developing the personalities of the secondary characters! You get a strong sense of Bram, Arabella and Samira. Even though they were not the leads, the reader gets to "know" who they are, how they think, and what are their principle traits. Even Tristan's "dragon" was basically a character unto himself. So you can imagine how much more thought Anderson put into the details of the main characters, Melanie and Tristan.I loved that Mel was a kick-ass, take no prisoners kind of female protagonist, full of spunk and valor. As for Tristan, although he was a Class A Jerk at first, he had valid reasons for being that way. [Hey, in a romance, the two leads usually have to overcome some obstacle before uniting, so I didn't mind Tristan's assholery at the beginning of the story.] But, Tristan was open-minded enough to allow for his views on humans to evolve. And of course, he's your archetypal strong, alpha, sexy male. This book had a tightly woven story, good pacing, excellent characters, and was very well written. I have no hesitation recommending "Sacrificed to the Dragon."

Review of the entire first book: This one was just okay for me. It was suggested by Facebook as something I might like. It’s the usual rough, tough, alpha male who hates the heroine but grows to love her type of story. Melanie sacrifices herself and agrees to bear a dragon-shifter baby in exchange for a vial of dragon blood to save her young brother’s life. She enters a new culture with only a few other human women there to pave the way for her. Tristan’s inner dragon is immediately drawn to her and sees her as his mate. I think I liked the parts where the dragon is talking inside his head, and he’s talking back to him the best. There wasn’t a lot of romance in this one, and because Tristan’s dragon is obsessed with Melanie (mating frenzy) the sex itself was a bit brutal, icky and over the top. He fights the attraction, she doesn’t, and they kind-of instantly realize they love each other without really knowing one another at all. It was okay enough that I’ll try the next book in the series. If that one is the same, I’ll probably stop reading.

I enjoyed and loved the story much more than I thought I would. This was the first dragon shifter story where the main character in the story was a dragon shifter and it took my by surprise! The author did a marvelous job with all the emotions and detailed fill into each character. Tristan and Melanie are both strong headed characters that take you through an exciting adventure in romance. The dragons and humans do not live together in harmony, in fact it is quite the opposite. They can't live together. Dragons live secluded in certain territories and boundaries can't be crossed or it can mean death to dragons by the dragon hunters. The humans have found a use for dragon blood and make a compromise to sacrifice human women to procreate with the dragon shifters for exchange of their blood. Tristan and Melanie are caught in the middle of it and need to come to terms for the both sake. I highly recommend this book who like romance and shape shifters! I will continue on reading the next book in the series.

Super quick read, but left me wanting more. Ugh! Darn you serials, you get me to the good part only to trick me into needing to pick up the second book. Even with this quirk this is definitely a series I'm gonna continue. I liked the main characters Tristan and Mel. Tristan is definitely a dick, but a dick with a cause to hate humans, so I'll forgive him. He's all tall, dark and muscles, plus he's a dragon so that works for me. Mel is a cute 25 year old chick who is not only smart, but sassy as well with a shy streak. She's described pretty much as your normal gal, which is a nice reprieve from either perfection or tomboyishness some heroines tend to be now-a-days.

My second Dragon Shifter story has started off with mucho gusto! Tristan is literally a complete, though hot, a$$. Melanie, aka the "human sacrifice" is determined to stay with Tristan no matter that he is a complete jerk to her. Their relationship gives new meaning to wham-bam-thank you mam! It was so quick I blinked and almost missed it. Nevertheless, I'm moving on to Part II to see just how much of a jerk Tristan will be. Tristan's dragon is too funny! It's no wonder Tristan is grumpy with the constant bickering between the two of them! And Melanie volunteered for this? AS IF!!! On my Were Scale of Hotness, 2.5 stars.

I have read the complete story and do recommend it very much. It has an engaging storyline with characters that you see grow and mature. The relationship is not rushed and they take time to really connect. The characters feel genuine and have real issues to overcome. If you want a good romance with your shifter story, this is a great choice.

This was an a right book. Dragon shifter and human female are paired to mate, she is doing this to help her brother who is ill and in need of the dragons blood. He hates humans because they killed and badly wounded his family. After they mate his dragon wants to keep her, his human side doesn't. They struggle and the dragon wins after the human see's she isn't like other humans.

*WARNING EXPLICIT LANGUAGE I didn’t go into this book with very high expectations and I’m glad I didn’t this book was awful even for a paranormal romance, the characters were bland cardboard cutouts of almost every other paranormal romance character. Melanie the ‘short, curvy’ young women volunteers to sacrifice herself to these half dragon beings so that they can mate with her to reproduce and save their kind. With that premise you really couldn’t expect much. Her character was so transparent and ‘plain’ that reading from her perspective made we want to fall asleep. She was described to be a curvy (which was mentioned on every page) fiery, strong willed women. It didn’t feel like she was either of these things it felt like she only had these traits for the sake of it because it’s popular to read about ‘strong female characters’ (don’t get me wrong I love strong FC when it makes sense for their character to be like that not just for the sake of it) there is a lot more I could say about our Main female lead but I’ll leave it there. Now the main male character aka the love interest. The brooding, cold, drop dead gorgeous Tristan Macleod a half Dragon being force to mate with a human female only problem is he has a sad backstory... his mother was killed by human so now he hates all humans. Throughout this story you follow Tristans internal monologue his dragon side just wanting to as quoted from the book ‘fuck our female’ and his human half not wanting to because humans = bad. Within 100 pages he has ‘fucked’ her for a week straight until she is with child and now he needs to stay away from her because you guessed it he hates humans. Honestly Tristan was an extremely disappointing character, he wasn’t well written at all there was nothing about him that made him stand out in a sea of basic, stereotypical male love interests. As for the side characters very forgettable. Will not be continuing these books

Recently I have been trying to read books from different genres that aren't my typical, so getting into this book felt a bit like going home, back to my more normal genre of books; and more importantly, back to a book that drew me in and I didn't want to put down. I wanted to just keep reading which is how I read it in 1.5 days. However, the morning of the second day I wasn't as addicted as when I started, maybe it was because the thrill of an interesting book had warn off but also the book felt a bit cheesy in the second half. But, overall, a good read.

Sacrificed to the Dragon Great book, as the first book in this series it is a great beginning. This book was absolutely full of mystery and exciting events that are very important and keep you on the edge of your seat and ready to see what might happen next. Loved every single word and cannot wait for the next one.

The premise of this book is laughably silly. But it was free on kobo so I checked out. It was surprisingly better written than I expected it to be even if the heroine was a bit Mary Sue-ish with how perfect she was.
